Summary

He wants to remember。 She needs to forget。 。 。 。 Memento meets Sharp Objects in a gripping psychological thriller from the New York Times bestselling author of Something in the Water

"Twisty 。 。 。 highly imaginative 。 。 。 deliciously provocative。"--The Washington Post

Who is Mr。 Nobody?

When a man is found on a British beach, drifting in and out of consciousness, with no identification and unable to speak, interest in him is sparked immediately。 From the hospital staff who find themselves inexplicably drawn to him, to international medical experts who are baffled by him, to the national press who call him Mr。 Nobody, everyone wants answers。 Who is this man? And what happened to him?

Some memories are best forgotten。

Neuropsychiatrist Dr。 Emma Lewis is asked to assess the patient in a small town deep in the English countryside。 This is her field of expertise, this is the chance she's been waiting for, and this case could make her name known across the world。 But therein lies the danger。 Emma left this same town fourteen years ago and has taken great pains to cover all traces of her past since then。

Places aren't haunted 。 。 。 people are。

But now something--or someone--is calling her back。 And the more time she spends with her patient, the more alarmed she becomes that he knows the one thing about her that nobody is supposed to know。

Praise for Mr。 Nobody

"Riveting。"--Entertainment Weekly

"Even better than Something in the Water, Catherine Steadman's new novel, Mr。 Nobody, is original, ingenious, and utterly gripping, with characters you'll really care about as they race toward the brilliantly unexpected ending。"--JP Delaney, New York Times bestselling author of The Girl Before

I was sucked in by the intriguing beginning, but the plot totally fell apart in the last third and I am sorry I wasted my time。

A bit too slow and dramatic style of writing for me。 Two stars for an interesting story though and it picks up at the end。

A very slow read。 Didn't really care what happened by time i got to the end。 Interesting facts on amnesia and how memory works。 Disappointing A very slow read。 Didn't really care what happened by time i got to the end。 Interesting facts on amnesia and how memory works。 Disappointing 。。。more

Thriller Bookie

All in all this was a good thriller。 I liked Something in the Water by Steadman more, that I have to admit。The atmosphere of Mr Nobody was creepy and thrilling enough, the plot was interesting。 Maybe it was all a bit "Sci-Fi" or better said not believable enough, when the truth was revealed and that's why I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars。 It just felt as if the explanation was a little bit too "made up" or somehow forced, just to surprise the reader, if you know what I mean。 All in all this was a good thriller。 I liked Something in the Water by Steadman more, that I have to admit。The atmosphere of Mr Nobody was creepy and thrilling enough, the plot was interesting。 Maybe it was all a bit "Sci-Fi" or better said not believable enough, when the truth was revealed and that's why I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars。 It just felt as if the explanation was a little bit too "made up" or somehow forced, just to surprise the reader, if you know what I mean。 。。。more

Pretty good for most of the time, but can’t really pull off the ending。

Mallory Reader

I wish it had a few more twists along the way and answered some sub-plot questions, but the ending blew me away。

Really good! Kept me interested the whole time。 Ending was a little anticlimactic but still good。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 This book started out with so much potential。 The beginning was fascinating, I was so invested in the main character and her past and Mr。 Nobody-who could he be? It took a ridiculous turn and then another one but wrapped up nicely。 It also got a bit confusing as to what was actually going on, but smoothed out in the end。

3。5 stars。 My, my。。 this book has polarizing reviews! I actually enjoyed this book。 I wanted to keep reading and I wanted to find out what happened the whole way through。 No, it isn't the edge of your seat thriller for the most part but the book was well read, characters were interesting and I honestly enjoyed the entire thing。 I considered giving this 4 stars, but I find I have read more gripping books that I rated 4 stars。。。。 so 3。5 it is。 3。5 stars。 My, my。。 this book has polarizing reviews! This was definitely an interesting read。 It had some twists and turns。 Some parts were slow paced and I felt the book was to long and drawn out on parts。 I tried to read her other book several times but never could get into it。 But, maybe I’ll give it another try。

Emily

Did want to see what the mysterious condition was all about。

Mr。 Nobody is an unforgettable character。 He is found wandering on Holcomb beach in England。 The man is barefoot, soaking wet, has an obvious head injury, and does not speak。 He is transported to the local hospital where a nurse calls him Matthew because she doesn't like the name the newspapers have chosen。 It appears that the patient has retrograde amnesia or dissociative fugue。 Dr。 Emma Lewis is a neuropsychiatrist who has studied and written about this rare mental disorder。 She is offered the Mr。 Nobody is an unforgettable character。 He is found wandering on Holcomb beach in England。 The man is barefoot, soaking wet, has an obvious head injury, and does not speak。 He is transported to the local hospital where a nurse calls him Matthew because she doesn't like the name the newspapers have chosen。 It appears that the patient has retrograde amnesia or dissociative fugue。 Dr。 Emma Lewis is a neuropsychiatrist who has studied and written about this rare mental disorder。 She is offered the chance to leave London and treat this patient。 It is the opportunity of a lifetime, but there is a problem。 The hospital is located in Norfolk。 Emma and her family had changed their names and fled this area when she was a teenager。 Returning raises the risk of being identified and bringing the past back to life。 In the end, Emma decides that she cannot turn down this career-making case。 However, when she meets Matthew, the situation immediately becomes more complicated。 The patient might not know who he is, but he seems to know Emma。 I preferred this book to Catherine Steadman's first novel - Something in the Water。 。。。more

It was okay。 Fun in places, clumsy in others。

Cassie

Started out so good but the ending…good lord。

Yang G

A few suspenses that kind of led to nowhere but overall a good story nicely read by the author。 Way better than the much hyped Silent Patient in my opinion。

Jackie

Whew, that was a page-turner! Lots of twists and turns, with (partly) a neuroscience theme。 I put all my carefully chosen summer books aside and read it in two days。

Tonya J。

I really didn’t care for the bad language or the psychology mumbo-jumbo, but the story was well written。 It held my interest。

Stephanie

Meh。 Good but not great。 The revelations weren’t as shock inducing as expected but still a compelling read

Jamie Lonza

This is far better than her other book。 It’s not super riveting or anything but it’s solid and I like the story line it was super Interesting。 Also no Luke Evans this time。 I cast Henry Cavill as I thought he was British for most of it 😅😅

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I love the idea of this book but I have to say I am disappointed with the outcome of the mystery。 I really wanted mr nobody to have had some affiliation with her past life, so that was just lackluster for me that he didn’t。
